Story
From box to super brand. Where it all began...

The Happy Hair Co. was founded in 2018 by Sacha Atherton through an idea she had whilst doing her daughter's hair. Like many of us with curly or afro hair, Sacha and her daughter Jaya have lots of hair products and accessories. At the time, Sacha was using an old shopping bag to store her products, one that was literally falling to pieces.
Sacha decided that she needed some proper storage and that it was a fantastic opportunity to also promote some positive images and messages, for children in particular, to help with hair insecurities and encourage equality, confidence and self-love. It was really important to Sacha that the characters on the boxes were diverse, realistic and represented EVERYONE, regardless of race, gender or background.
Just a few weeks later, the STEM character range of the Happy Hair Box was born. Whilst the storage box was the driving force, the business quickly evolved into a hub for all things “happy hair” within the natural hair community. Within a couple of months, The Happy Hair Co. had their own vast product range of popular innovative hair care tools and accessories, which also caught the attention of numerous celebrities.
This led to Sacha being approached by celebrity, Rochelle Humes and a subsequent collaboration which also included Sacha's 7 year old daughter, Jaya.
As the business and brand continues to expand rapidly, Sacha has also generated a demand for consultancy around natural hair care.
One of the most successful products is the frizz towel, which Sacha designed herself. Since sharing her own proven results online, the luxury organic cotton and bamboo item is creating a serious buzz.
As a result of her success to date, along with customer demand, Sacha is currently launching a new men’s beard and hair care line under the brand name 'Diaz x Jay' which will be available via our website.
